Judy Becker

Principal

J.D., Georgetown University Law Center
B.A., Duke University

Judy Becker is a Principal and one of the four voting members of Marshfield’s research team. Initially drawn to Marshfield’s disciplined approach to investment, Judy uses the skills she honed as an attorney to assess risk management, evaluate company leadership, and contemplate the aspects of our rapidly changing world that are likely to have the greatest impact on a business or industry.

Prior to joining Marshfield, Judy spent over a decade at the U.S. Department of Education, working primarily in the Office of the General Counsel, but also enjoying stints in the Department’s policy office and the Office of the Secretary. Prior to that, she worked as a litigation associate at Williams & Connolly, LLP, during which time she once convinced a federal judge to dismiss a complaint against her client on the spot.

When Judy is not in the office, you’re likely to find her running through Rock Creek Park, cooking an unnecessarily large (vegetarian) dinner, or writing. She usually refrains from dropping into conversation that she was a quarterfinalist for a fellowship from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for an original screenplay.

Judy joined Marshfield in 2018.
