Ali’s interest in value investing stems from its unique blend of understanding people, businesses, and institutions. Marshfield stood out to him because of the firm’s strong culture of conviction and alignment with clients’ interests.

Prior to joining the research team, Ali was a Research Assistant at the University of Pennsylvania Carey School of Law, where he worked on disability rights litigation and related legal issues. Additionally, he has interned at an investment bank within its financial crime compliance division and his local district attorney’s office, where he focused on mortgage fraud cases. 

Outside of work, Ali enjoys activities that combine competition and strategy. He competed in debate throughout high school and college, including a high school career that culminated in being ranked the nation’s top Lincoln-Douglas debater. He is also an avid poker player and enjoys playing racquet sports, especially squash and table tennis.  

Ali is also deeply interested in religion, an interest that led him to accidentally earn a minor in Religious Studies while at Penn. He is equally passionate about giving back to his communities through volunteer work with The Citizens Foundation (TCF), a nonprofit that builds and supports schools in rural Pakistan.
